Parent Participation

  1. What are volunteer requirements for each family?

    1. Each family is required to contribute by volunteering a minimum of 3 hours per registered wrestler throughout the season.  There is a volunteer fee of $150 per family due at the start of the season.  A postdated check should be submitted to a coach or board member the first week of practice. Once volunteer commitments have been completed the check will be returned or shredded (upon request).
  2.  Who are the coaches and what requirements are needed to become a coach?

    1. All of our coaches are volunteers. They range from some having a wrestling background and some simply loving the sport of wrestling! We are lucky enough to have the Neshaminy High School varsity coaches running some of our wrestling rooms. All coaches go through background checks and must be an active member of USA wrestling. All background checks and memberships are available to any wrestling family upon request. ONLY coaches who hold a USA Wrestling card are permitted to be on our mats at both practice and matches.
  3. What is your practice structure? How do I know my child is being taught proper technique to be prepared for their matches? How long are practices?

    1. Our programming is created and reviewed by all coaches prior to the season. It's important that all of our coaches follow the curriculum written to see the progress and growth from each of our wrestlers. From the first year room all the way through our Advanced room, we feel that following a weekly program helps our wrestlers see the best success. Practices range from 60-90 minutes depending on the room you are in. All that information will be provided by our board and loaded into the Gamechanger app so you are aware of what your wrestlers schedule is.
  4. What are your safety protocols for injuries, especially concussions or skin infections?

    1. In the event a child has a skin infection (ringworm, etc.), the wrestler will be not be able to participate in a practice or match until they are cleared by a doctor and actively being treated. We take concussions very seriously at our club and we have multiple coaches who are certified in the National HEADS UP concussion training. This helps allow us to spot any head injuries and how to follow the proper protocol. All of our weekend home matches, we are required by the ICWL to have a medic on site. We employee a medic who remains on site from the start to finish of all home matches.
  5. We did not purchase a Neshaminy wrestling singlet. What should my child do?

    1. All wrestlers are required to wear a Neshaminy singlet as you were required to sign a waiver committing to this requirement. In the event you do not own a singlet, the club has singlets that are available for weekly rent for $15 per match. Please reach out to [email protected] to request renting a singlet.
  6. Do you have a code of conduct as it pertains to parents actions? What happens if a parent breaks this code at a match or during practice?

    1. All parents are prohibited from the practice rooms. These are closed practices to allow for full attention on all coaches. Please make sure your wrestler is prepared going into practice with proper equipment/footwear and water.
    2. Our youth club maintains a zero-tolerance policy for inappropriate behaviors at practices or events. Any parent or spectator who engages in disruptive, aggressive, or disrespectful conduct will be asked to leave the premises immediately. They will also be prohibited from attending future matches hosted by our youth club.
